quantum A measurable quantity, particularly of development. Examples: ‘You must define the density and quantum of development you propose for the site’; ‘Density is a quantum that can be expressed in many different ways.’
quartermaster A person employed to patrol an urban quarter. The US term was used in the UK in 2003 in relation to proposals to redevelop part of Liverpool city centre.
